Morgan’s story

I met Morgan in Cairo, Egypt when I contracted Covid and was the longest residing occupant at my hostel. The final day before my freedom, I overheard a loud, American voice in the hallway directly across from my room, and was so excited to stumble upon someone who spoke my language after so long in captivity. Yes, I am being a bit dramatic, but when you weren't allowed to leave, and your only meals consisted of grubhub orders from KFC and McDonalds for a month, a friendly face was a huge sign of comfort.

The most common question when one backpacker encounters another is, “Where did you just come from”. But Morgan’s answer was completely out of the ordinary as her response was Iran and Saudi Arabia. We continued to talk for a while and I was immediately captivated by her stories of her travels to the most unique and underrated places. As a part time flight attendant for Delta Airlines, her schedule was flexible. In fact, she lives right out of her backpack and does not even have an apartment back home. Morgan works just for the freedom to travel, and happily lives in countless hotels, airbnbs, and hostels when she is not in the air.

Morgan’s bubbly personality is infectious to everyone who meets her! I stayed in touch with her immediately afterwards, and began to follow her incredible journey on Instagram throughout the following years. She has currently visited 145 out of 197 countries so far.

Her road led her through most of Africa, where she rode the iron ore train in Mauritania, tracked gorillas in Uganda, and attended a sacred coming-of-age ritual in Côte d’Ivoire. The Oceania, where she hung out with various tribes in Papua New Guinea, found the cheapest route through Samoa, and went for 40 hours without sleep just to swim in the crystal clear waters of Palau. She explored areas less traveled in Europe, and hiked the mountains of Kyrgyzstan in the dead of winter. She has danced with locals in Argentina, Brazil, Surinam, and even French Guiana!  You name it, chances are, she’s been there and has an epic story to tell.

The thing that captivated me most about Morgan is that her stories and photos are all honest, unfiltered, and raw. No presets, photoshop, or even filters. You see what you get! You will experience her interactions with the locals through her eyes! She is unafraid to be her silly, loud, and genuine self despite what social media demands.

Morgan continues to inspire me every single day and definitely someone the world needs to know.
